hundreds of leaves breezing

symmetrical patterns woven from wind

Yet amid the otherwise straightforward

a minority of twirls twist on stems

Sheltered from aggressive gusts

gleeful pinwheels spin

gowned for the Opera

throats encrusted with ruby chokers

cinched to a pinched wince
